3 Things God Cannot Do

3 things God cannot do
We serve the God of Heaven. All power in heaven and in earth is under His command.  His voice spoke the worlds into existence. When He opens a door, no man can shut it. When He closes a door, no one can open it. With such power, is there anything He can’t do? In fact, the Bible reveals to us three things that God cannot do.

Why You Need the Oil of Joy: Part Two

Joy header 2

Last week, we learned that Jesus came not only to save us, but also to give with the oil of joy. Why does God compare joy to oil? Just as oil gives us physical energy, joy gives us the strength we need to be faithful. Just as oil is necessary for beauty, joy gives beauty to the one who wears it. Why You Need The Oil of Joy- Part One

Joy header 1

Why did Jesus come to earth? In Isaiah 61, the prophet reveals Christ’s glorious mission to us. He came to bind up the brokenhearted, set the captives free, to comfort the mourners, and proclaim the day of the Lord. He came not only to redeem His people from the curse of sin but also to do much more.

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.” (Isaiah 61:3)

Christ came to offer salvation, but He did not merely offer forgiveness. He offered beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of heaviness. If you accept His free gift of salvation, these gifts are given to you! Contact us at northside1178@gmail.com to learn more.

Today, let’s focus our attention on a key phrase in this verse—“the oil of joy.” Why does God compare joy to oil? What can we learn about joy from this phrase? Let’s discover four key reasons why we need the oil of joy.
