Movie Review: Facing the Giants

“I want God to bless this team so much people will talk about what He did. But it means we gotta give Him our best in every area. And if we win, we praise Him. And if we lose, we praise Him. Either way we honor Him with our actions and our attitudes.”

-Coach Grant Taylor, Facing the Giants

It’s a story of impossible dreams, a story of never-give-up courage, and a story of unstoppable faith.

Facing the Giants is a film that will make you laugh, cheer, and gain a greater vision for serving God.

Today, we pull back the dusty tapestries of time and step into the world of Isaiah 7. The date is 735 B.C., and Israel has been a divided people for almost two hundred years. In the north, Pekah rules the ten tribes of Israel. In the south, Ahaz is the king of Judah. Pekah has allied himself with Rezin king of Syria against Ahaz. Together, they plot to take over Judah and crown a puppet king. As Isaiah 7 opens, Ahaz faces the threat of war. How does he react? “And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.”(verse 2) Terrified of losing his kingdom, Ahaz trembles. Since he has forsaken God, he cannot seek His help. Where will he turn?
