4 Best Family Vacation Spots

Looking for the best family vacation spots for your family? A family vacay is the perfect time to bond with your children and spouse and make happy memories together. At our church in Sydney Mines, we want to also help our children grow in their faith. One fun way to do that is choosing a Bible-centred vacation spot.

Here are 4 of the best family vacation spots we recommend.

The Creation Museum

Petersburg, Kentucky

Looking for a way to strengthen your children’s faith and provide science-based evidence for creation? This world-class museum will help your kids learn how to defend their faith and understand why creationism is not only believable, but also the most logical position to hold. At our church in Sydney Mines, we believe the truth of Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” As you walk through the museum, you will travel through Biblical history from Creation to Christ’s return. You’ll also enjoy animatronic dinosaurs, fossils, dinosaur bones, a planetarium, zip lines, a petting zoo, and more.

The Ark Encounter

Williamstown, Kentucky

On July 7, 2016, this full-size replica of Noah’s Ark opened its doors to the public. It’s the largest timber-frame structure in the world, measuring 510 feet long and over 50 feet tall. Its three decks are filled with educational exhibits, including replicas of extinct animals that travelled on the Ark. After touring the Ark, you can ride a zip line over the breathtaking valleys of Kentucky or check out the exotic animals at the Ararat Ridge Zoo. Your kids will love it!

The Wilds Christian Camp

Brevard, North Carolina
Located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, this Christian camp is well-known for its excellence, sound Biblical teaching, world-class music, and caring staff. Your family can enjoy hiking, paintball, swimming, tubing, zip-lining, golf, archery, basketball, and more. Check out their family camp, youth camps, retreats, and conferences on their website here: https://wilds.org

Sight & Sound Theatres

Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Branson, Missouri

With live animals, world-class original music, and stunning special effects, this theatre brings the Bible to life on stage! One mom said, “Jesus, like all the shows we have seen here, was remarkable. I wish I could have recorded my daughters’ reactions as they watched the show, hands on their cheeks- just totally shocked, amazed, thrilled, sad… so many emotions!” Right now, the Branson location is showing the live-animal production Samson, and the Lancaster location is showing the production Jesus. What a wonderful way to experience the life-changing truth of God’s Word!

Missions History: John Gibson Paton

In a poor Scottish home in the early 1800s, a father led his family in prayer. One of his sons would later write, “How much my father’s prayers impressed me…he poured out his whole soul with tears for the conversion of the heathen world to the service of Jesus, and for every personal and domestic need…As we rose from our knees, I used to look at the light on my father’s face…hoping that, in answer to his prayers, I might be privileged and prepared to carry the blessed gospel to some portion of the heathen world.”

This son was named John Gibson Paton, and God would answer his father’s prayers.
