Bailing Out: 5 Reasons That Christians Quit

 

If you’ve been a Christian for any length of time, you’ve probably seen fellow believers quit. Those who once seemed like shining paragons of godliness are no longer sitting two rows in front of you in church. You don’t see their car when you arrive for Sunday night service. Instead of asking for prayer requests, they ARE the prayer requests in the monthly prayer bulletin. “What happened to them?” you wonder. “And how can I avoid that happening to me?”

5 Ways to Lay Up Treasures in Heaven

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…” (Matthew 6:19-20)

With these words, Jesus taught a counter-cultural principle to His disciples. Instead of gathering wealth and treasures on earth, they were instructed to save treasures in Heaven. To do so, they would need to remember that they were just pilgrims on the earth. Money was a tool to be used, but not a treasure to be cherished. Looking forward to Heaven, they were to send their riches on ahead. And, as believers today, Jesus’ command is for us, too.

What Ruth Teaches Us About Love

It’s a Cinderella story of a Moabite girl who had nothing but a servant’s heart. Yet, by God’s matchmaking grace, she became one of a handful of honoured women mentioned in the genealogy of Christ.
