Community Events: Book, Plant, and Garage Sale at McConnell Library

Are you searching for new books for your summer reading list? Do you have a pile of unwanted items but no time to hold a garage sale? We’ve got great news for you! This Saturday, June 8, the McConnell Library in Sydney is holding their annual One Day Sale. It’s the perfect place to find new books—or to donate your garage sale items for a good cause.

Read on for what’s happening at the McConnell Library’s One Day Sale this weekend…

Pop-up Book Sale

If you love books, you’ll be excited about this pop-up book sale. At our Baptist church in Cape Breton, we love books! The Library will be selling a wide variety of books for adults, children, and teens. You can fill a plastic grocery bag with books for only $5. Considering the normal retail prices of books, that’s a steal!

For the best selection, come by early. Because the library only needs a copy or two of each book, you might even find a recent bestseller if the library already owned a copy! The book sale runs from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday.

Friends of the Library Plant Sale

Just finished preparing your garden for summer? Looking for a good home for your extra perennials? Why not donate them to the Library’s Plant Sale? This week, the Library will be accepting donations of identified perennials for Saturday’s sale.

Or, if you’re looking for new additions to your garden, you should come by the Plant Sale. It will be running from 9 am to 12 pm on Saturday, June 8 (rain or shine). The Plant Sale will be held in the Library garage on Charlotte Street. It’s sponsored by Friends of McConnell Library.

Garage Sale

Looking for a place to donate your unwanted garage sale items? This week, you can drop off items in good condition at the McConnell Library. All donations are greatly appreciated.

If you love garage sale shopping, come by the Library garage from 9 am to 12 pm on Saturday. You never know what treasures you might find—an antique lamp for your cottage or a pair of vintage skis! This garage sale is sponsored by RBC.

How You Can Help

If you’re able, you can drop off perennial plants or garage sale items at the Library this week. This Saturday, you can come out and support your local library at the Sale. All proceeds from this fundraiser will support the programs and services of the Cape Breton Regional Library.
