It’s Not About Us – It’s About Him

At Northside, our desire is to lift up Jesus Christ and introduce others to Him.

We believe that people who have the most fulfilling and joyful lives can be described with these words…

“For the Glory of God and the Benefit of Someone Else.”

At our church, we aren’t perfect. Far from it! But we believe that God’s Word has the answers and help that we need.

So we study the Bible, practice what we learn, and, in the process, grow together.

Take Up Your Cross: The Inspiring Life of Nabeel Qureshi

For most North American believers, their decision to accept Jesus as Saviour was not a costly one. While they had to swallow their pride and humble themselves, they weren’t going to lose their friends and family over it. They probably began attending a church like our church in Sydney Mines. Although they might face mild teasing or exclusion from certain social activities, they were in no danger of being disowned or losing their lives. However, those who come to faith in Christ from a Muslim background pay an extremely high cost. Often, they must give up everything they love, including their family.

Here is the story of one such believer, Nabeel Qureshi.

Fearful, he fled into the wilderness of Beersheba.  He prayed, “It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.” (1 Kings 19:4) Yet, in that desolate place, God met him, strengthened him, and gave him a renewed mission. (You can check out 1 Kings 18-19 to discover the whole story.)

Here are 3 must-know truths that we can learn from Elijah’s experience.

Missions History: Oswald J. Smith

“Oh, to realize that souls, precious, never dying souls, are perishing all around us, going out into the blackness of darkness and despair, eternally lost, and yet to feel no anguish, shed no tears, know no travail! How little we know of the compassion of Jesus!”

-Oswald J. Smith

In November 1889, a son was born to a telegraph operator and his wife in rural Ontario. As a youngster, he was responsible to light the signal lamps on either side of the railway station. Little did he dream that, someday, God would use him to blaze the light of the gospel across the globe.

His name was Oswald J. Smith, and this is his remarkable story.
