3 Things That God Requires from Us

 

What is the measure of your success as a Christian? What is God looking for in His children? If you’ve been a Christian for a while, you may have heard the following:

“God wants you to glorify Him in everything you do.”

“You need to find God’s perfect will for your life and follow it.”

“God commands you to love your neighbour as yourself.”

While all of these statements are Biblically accurate, they can all be summarized in one brief verse from the prophet Micah.

“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8)

For most North American believers, their decision to accept Jesus as Saviour was not a costly one. While they had to swallow their pride and humble themselves, they weren’t going to lose their friends and family over it. They probably began attending a church like our church in Sydney Mines. Although they might face mild teasing or exclusion from certain social activities, they were in no danger of being disowned or losing their lives. However, those who come to faith in Christ from a Muslim background pay an extremely high cost. Often, they must give up everything they love, including their family.

3 Requirements for Being Used by God

 

If you ask the average Christian if they want to be used by God, they will say, “Yes! Absolutely!” None of us wants to be mediocre Christians. At the end of our life, we don’t want to look back with regrets on missed opportunities and wasted potential. Instead, we want to hear God say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant!” (Matt. 25:21) How can we become effective servants of God? First, we need to ensure that we are real Christians. A real Christian is one who has turned from their sins and believed on Jesus to pay for their sins. Next, we need to meet God’s qualifications for service.
