Words are incredibly powerful. They can lift the spirits of the weary mother, inspire the soldier to courageous action, and comfort those who mourn. Proverbs 18:21 tells us, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Our tongues have the potential for either great evil or great good. In the Bible, God teaches us to speak words of encouragement, praise, instruction, and truth.

His Grace Is Sufficient: The Testimony of Joni Eareckson Tada

 

“The weaker I am, the harder I must lean on God’s grace; the harder I lean on him, the stronger I discover him to be, and the bolder my testimony to his grace.” 

The lady who wrote these words bears testimony to them with her life. Since 1967, she has been a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the neck down. Yet, through her suffering, she drew closer to God and learned how to lean on His grace. God has used her to minister to people of all ages and walks of life, and today she is “an international advocate for people with disabilities.”

Yesterday, Today, Forever—He Is Faithful

 
Throughout life, few things remain the same. Children grow up. Friends move away. The sands of culture shift rapidly under our feet. Yet, in every circumstance of life, we have a God who never changes. At our church in Sydney Mines, we are so thankful for His faithfulness. Moses reminded the Israelites in Deuteronomy 7:9, 

“Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;”
